Loss Prevention Committee - safety through learning from each other

Sharing, especially when it comes to knowledge, is a core value at Norwegian Hull Club.

We understand its power when it comes to prevention. Experiences lead to insights - something we know well, dealing with an average of around 2,500 incidents annually.

The Loss Prevention Committee (LPC) was established at the request of Norwegian Hull Club’s Board in 2013. Meeting at least once a year, the committee consists of delegates from members of Norwegian Hull Club.

The purpose of the committee is to share timely and relevant information from operational experience and industry developments in order to safeguard lives, the environment and assets in the marine and offshore energy industries.

Through an open and trusted dialogue - conducted under the Chatham House Rule - LPC members are able to learn from each other and preempt future scenarios in order to avoid costly mistakes. All of the members see this as essential.

Discussions, suggestions and recommendations are followed up by Norwegian Hull Club’s Loss Prevention and Emergency Response department in order to further develop our products and services according to this valuable input.

Please note that members of the LPC need to possess the relevant experience and knowledge to grapple with complex issues, while also having the necessary authority to act on the findings within their own organisations.

Examples of LPC discussion topics

  • Case studies from claims and near misses
  • Culture, behaviour and implementation challenges
  • General insurance matters
  • General safety matters
  • General operational matters
  • War, terror and cyber-related challenges
