Henriksen new CCO as Solberg steps back

InsightsAugust 30, 2024

Deputy Chief Claims Officer (DCCO) Rune Henriksen is taking over from Åge Solberg as Chief Claims Officer (CCO) at Norwegian Hull Club from October 1.

Åge has chosen to step down from the position he has held for nine years to focus on what is ‘closest to his heart’ – a more operational workday after 23 years in managerial roles, together with the opportunity to increase his mentorship of The Club’s emerging talent.

EXPERIENCE
Rune, with nearly 20 years’ experience from the Claims department of the Bergen-headquartered marine and offshore energy insurance provider, was appointed to the DCCO role in 2016.

Following a 14-year career in the Royal Norwegian Navy, Rune joined Norwegian Hull Club’s claims department in 2007. Since 2009, he has been heading the Global Energy & Specialty claims section, which is also responsible for war claims, as well as for marine claims for The Club’s London business.

Rune is also CCO of The Club’s renewables-focused subsidiary NIORD, which launched in January this year – a role he will continue to hold alongside his new position.

‘DEDICATION’
Speaking of Rune’s appointment, CEO Hans Christian Seim said: “With a dedication to always developing The Club’s service concept to be the best for our clients, driven by a curiosity to challenge the status quo, combined with a systematic and analytical mindset, Rune represents the best of two worlds in a role that requires both structure and creativity”.

“His experience and qualities complement an executive management team that has seen some changes over the past year to meet the requirements of the corporate structure in our growing group of companies.

“The executive management group and I are very excited to see Rune join the team.”

‘SUPPORT’
Following the announcement of his new role, Rune said: “I am very happy to take on this role and carry on the further development of The Club’s service concept, together with my experienced and enthusiastic colleagues in the claims department. I’m proud to have them along with me as we continue to develop ourselves and the support we provide to our clients, together with the rest of the Norwegian Hull Club family.”

‘KNOWLEDGE SHARING’

Åge Solberg will continue his career at The Club in a role as Senior Claims Handler & Adjuster, as part of The Club’s Norway & Asia Claims team. In this role, Åge will utilise his long experience to support clients in the claims handling process from ‘notification to payment’. In addition, he will dedicate time to experience transfer through knowledge sharing, both internally and externally.

The veteran of almost 35 years of claims handling and loss prevention experience said: “Throughout my stint in the CCO role, our lead portfolio and the fundament for the Claims department have increased with approximately 3,800 vessels, whereof 1,200 are H&M lead vessels. I am proud of the steady growth that is a testament to the Norwegian Hull Club brand, which remains extremely strong as a global claims leader, and service concept, and I am happy to hand over leadership to Rune.

“Now, I look forward to a more operational workday and to work closely with our clients in active knowledge sharing in a truly exciting time as they and we adapt to the risks, opportunities and technologies of tomorrow. It is also exciting and motivating to have more time to dedicate to mentoring and coaching of The Club’s many young talents.”

Hans Christian described Åge as ‘having been instrumental in three decades of constant development of the hands-on contingency support Norwegian Hull Club’s members and clients experience’, adding: “I and all my colleagues are truly grateful for Åge’s dedication through the years, and that he will continue to have a key role in developing and delivering a service that adapts with the emerging challenges of today and tomorrow.”

Norwegian Hull Club would like to extend its warmest congratulations and best wishes to both Åge and Rune as they each enter new and exciting phases in their respective careers.
