On Thursday February 9th, Norwegian Hull Club hosted its 10th Annual Offshore Energy & Special Risk Seminar in London, at the iconic Tower of London, New Armouries venue.

In addition to a Club update from CEO, Hans Christian Seim and a brief overview of the past 10 years by Georg Nygaard, the program concentrated on emerging risks and product development in today’s market; and lessons learned through knowledge sharing within insurance. We also had the pleasure of welcoming Jasper Neuteboom of BW Offshore, who shared his thoughts and concerns from an insured’s perspective when it comes to dealing with large claims.

The seminar has gained in popularity over the years and more than 75 brokers from the London market were in attendance. The agenda definitely had something for everyone and it was especially good to see several new faces among the participants attending this year. Developing and maintaining close relationships with the broking community is of importance to the Club and we will continue to build on this further through such seminars, which also serve as an ideal platform to introduce new products and share lessons learned with a broad audience.

On the product development side we focused on Extended Warranty Cover; Manifest Error Insurance; Drug Seizure Difference in Conditions; as well as Deductible Buy-Downs. Many of these products have been developed with close co-operation with brokers, enabling us to provide a wide range of products and services to aid our clients and meet the day-to-day insurance expectations from an ever more demanding offshore energy and shipping markets.
