Georg Nygaard has nearly 20 years’ experience within maritime risk analysis. Prior to his current position as Head of Global Energy & Specialty, Georg was Senior Vice President & Head of Section - Global Energy after working his way up from assistant underwriter, underwriter and senior underwriter roles with Norwegian Hull Club.

He holds a Master’s degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Norwegian School of Economics and Hong Kong University. In 2004 Georg founded YoungShip, a non-profit organisation for young people working within the global maritime industry. Today it boasts more than 3,000 members globally. He is also Chairman of the Cefor Offshore Energy Forum.

Formerly on the Board of Directors of GC Rieber Shipping (2012-2016), Georg is currently a member of the International Union of Marine Insurance's Energy Committee.

He says: “With the global transition to low carbon and renewable energy now increasing speed, it is great to have the opportunity to contribute from the insurance side. Offshore wind will form a vital part of the energy mix going forward and we will be there to support the fixed and floating industry.”
